Maximum price caps are used to ensure that properties remain affordable for first home buyers in Canterbury – Christchurch City: $500,000 for existing and $550,000 for new builds; Canterbury Province: $500,000. We will put together a number of options to suit your budget and requirements, then arrange property inspections.
When you have made you selection, we then handle all financial and contractual transactions on your behalf.

You’re ready to roll.
Interest rates are at their lowest point in 40 years, making it cheaper to own than rent. House prices are increasing fast and the Government recognises this. While most lenders require a minimum deposit of at least 20 per cent of the house price, help is at hand through the Government’s First Home Loan Scheme.
We know that finding the deposit for your first home can be a struggle, but with a First Home Loan, you only need a 5%-10% deposit. The loans are issued by selected banks and other lenders and underwritten by Government agency
If you’re a first-time homebuyer or a previous homeowner, and you have been making regular KiwiSaver contributions for 3-5 years, you may be eligible for a First Home Grant of up to $20,000. Through the Government scheme you can receive up to $20,000 per couple or $10,000 per individual “free money” towards your first home deposit. The First Home Grant is a one-off, genuine grant that you don’t have to repay, and you don’t pay interest on either.
You can now also use all your Kiwi Saver, less $1000, towards your first home deposit.
The criteria for eligibility is straightforward
- Be over 18
- Have earned in the 12 months before applying $95,000 or less for a single buyer; $150,000 or less for two buyers
- Not currently own any property
- Have been contributing minimum of 3% of your total income for 3 years
- Purchase a property within the regional house price caps
- Agree to live in your new home for at least 6 months
You could own your own home without any further savings contribution. We will check to see whether you qualify for finance and which lenders are best suited for you.
